Hired by a nightclub promoter to photograph one of their events inside the darkest venue in London. This place is notorious for its lack of stage lighting. Needless to say I got there early and clamped my remote speedlights at strategic points on the ceiling. Lighting settings were tested on the support acts in preparation for the main event - Scott Kelly of Neurosis performing an acoustic set. This photo was the first one I took of him and it's my favourite live shot ever. I took about five more shots before Mr Kelly stopped the gig and complained about the flashes. I didn't take any more photos that evening. I didn't need to. But what really made me laugh was when the tour manager asked if they could get copies of the photos and use them as publicity. Please don't take any photos but we'd quite like to use them for free. Photography without light is like a guitar without strings.
